GVOC GARDEN TOUR!!Saturday June 11, 2011 10 AM – 4 PM Rain or shine! Join us for our third annual Garden Tour of five gardens in Rochester, Pittsford, Penfield and Fairport. All proceeds support the music programs of GVOC. Some highlights of the gardens include: #1: Twenty years of work – that is what is behind this garden of raised beds, terraced garden rooms and meandering paths threading an acre of land in a city neighborhood. There are over 20 cultivars of conifers, a rose garden and over 400 taxa of shrubs, marvelous natural miniatures, rock gardens and more! #2: Wandering through these beautifully crafted garden rooms is something like visiting a garden showroom. Strolling paths, a bridge, waterfalls, a gazebo, multi-levels, ponds, and sitting areas - -it’s all here! #3: The overall climate of this garden is of a back-woods, but sunny spots are planted with vegetables, raised with attractive rocks for easier access. A large stone fireplace is a central focus and the surrounding space is filled with butterfly attractors, a water feature and a play area for children. #4: This garden demonstrates the impact of plantings from transplants or seed from another loved garden, or from the earth itself. The result is a wildlife vacation spot and a garden honored by the National Wildlife Federation. There are shade gardens, vegetable gardens, wildflowers as well as area wildlife. #5: These gardeners have designed a lovely blend of incorporating what nature provides, with carefully planned use of the existing space, to thoughtfully creating a showcase yard. Look for lovely stone stairways, pathways, attractive use of container plants and a backdrop of large, mature trees. Tickets are $12 each. To order on line:
You can also purchase tickets at these local garden stores: And you can call for tickets: (585) 223-9006. You don’t have to be a gardener to enjoy this tour! Bring a friend, have lunch, and see some beautiful gardens! Thanks for your support of the Genesee Valley Orchestra and Chorus. |
