"I enjoy being a member of GVOC because I like the people, and musically we do a variety of styles and are continually striving to improve the quality of what we do. It's been so enjoyable getting to know so many people that continue to be in the chorus year after year... It's important to me to be doing music that is rich musically—our conductors have always helped us to appreciate those specific qualities within the piece we're doing. First Musical Memory: My mother played the piano frequently - my first memories were just happy piano, popular & classical - the first I can put a title to what she played washer favorite over the years - Nola.

Favorite Piece of Music: It's very difficult to pick one; I love so many different types & styles of music. Since I'm a Gemini I'll pick two favorites - a show tune - "Send in the Clowns" from A Little Night Music, and a classical piece - Dvorak's Cello Concerto. In "Send in the Clowns" I like the changes in dynamics & the unusual chording Sondheim uses, and it shows music's wonderful ability to take a bad scene and make it be okay. I love the excitement of show music - like opera, it tells a story complete with song, dance, costuming - it has it all. he cello speaks to me because of its lovely deep resonance. The romantic style stirs the romantic within me - the subtlety & dynamics, rhythmic changes all move me.
